Canaan Scholarships

The Canaan Scholarship Fund sent 40 Palestinian students to college on full scholarships for 4-year degrees in Palestinian universities.

Canaan Fair Trade is committed to using sales of organic, fair trade Palestinian olive oil to increase access to higher education for marginalized Palestinian youth and first-generation college students with emphasis on rural and refugee communities and organic knowledge.

The Canaan Scholarship Fund provided four year scholarships that covered full tuition, books, and fees at local Palestinian universities to qualified students from the target groups. Since 2007, 40 scholarships have been awarded!

In 2014, Canaan began funding farmer organic research and education through the programs of the Canaan Center for Organic Research and Extension (CORE).  The impact on the ground is multiplied many times over.  By helping farmers to a better livelihood, they can send ALL their children to college.  Write us at The Land of Canaan Foundation if you would like to hear more about how you can help create leaders in Palestine.

History: The Canaan Scholarship Award Committee was composed of representatives of Canaan Fair Trade, the Palestine Fair Trade Association, and faculty members from all major Palestinian universities. Qualified students from rural and refugee communities whose parents did not attend college received priority in the selection process.
